When our couples entwine truly personal details into their wedding plans, magic happens. What could be a “nice” wedding becomes incredibly beautiful, meaningful and reflective of their personal histories and love story. Sam and Grace chose to marry at Great Marsh Estate in the Virginia countryside on a perfect, warm October day.
I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to plan mainly with our sweet groom, Sam Shon. It’s rare that I get to connect and develop a friendship with the Groom in the same manner as our Brides, however, Sam took on the majority of the planning. It was such a treat! His love for Grace was apparent throughout. Focus and excitement was about marrying the love of his lift, not just on the wedding celebration at hand.
Sam and Grace are from Korean descent and many guests flew in from overseas. Both Moms wore traditional Korean dress during the wedding ceremony. Sam’s dad hung lanterns on the cocktail hour patio and entrance of the Estate. Their DJ, Jonathan Chung and Master of Ceremonies, San Lin Lee of Sangtastic Events were bilingual and ensured maximum enjoyment for each guest. In addition to Serendipity Catering’s incredible cuisine, they added Korean menu items as well: Jap-Chae (noodles), marinated Korean Chicken Wings, Kimbap (“sushi”), Haepari Nengchae (a veggie + seafood dish), Rice cakes and Fruit for dessert, in addition to the delicious cupcakes baked by Lavender Moon Cupcakery.
I can’t help but mention the CUTEST ring-bearer EVER– Sweet Bruce! Just 3 years old, but he nailed it. He was SO thrilled when I gave him his much-deserved lollipop post-ceremony!
